An Ohio Woman Caught A Rare Weather Phenomenon On Video

A Zanesville woman’s post of some crazy Ohio weather has gone viral.

Originally posted by Kristin Ashalee Mattox, the video depicts an extremely rare weather event, a snow devil.

Snow devils, or snownadoes, are so rare that only a handful have ever been captured on video. In order for a snow devil to form, there has to be a combination of conditions that are anything but typical. The ground has to be warm, which causes steam and fog.

Then a colder, low-pressure column of air has to move over. As the air begins to combine, it rotates, much like a waterspout or tornado, pulling up debris, which in this case, is snow!

Pretty cool, right?
