Is It Possible To Tell A Story In Six Words? The New Gallery Hop Series Does Just That

A combination of storytelling and visual art brings the Short North’s newest mural series to life.

“Six in the Short North” is the fourth installment of the Short North Temporary Mural Series. Columbus-based author, Larry Smith, combines his six-word story telling style with local artwork to create a visual storyboard about the city. The de-installation of the previous murals and the installment of “Six in the Short North” will be open to the public and all are invited to watch.

“Six in the Short North marks the first time in which many of the participating artists are creating original artworks specific to the mural series,” says Betsy Pandora, Executive Director of the Short North Alliance. The series will be put up by the next Gallery Hop and will be accompanied by two other public art programs entitled “Six Word Stroll and Share” and “The Short North Art Trail”.

“Six Word Stroll and Share” will happen on three separate Sundays between August and September. The first two dates will be August 27 and September 3 with the third and final date yet to be confirmed. The experience includes a 90-minute tour and an in-depth conversation about the themes of each piece, afterward people are invited to create their own six-word story about the Short North.

“The Short North Art Trail” takes participants on an interactive tour of all the public artworks in the Columbus arts district. At each stop, people are encouraged to check out the artist’s bios and what generally inspired their work. Prizes are even awarded to anyone having visited all of the galleries and artwork.

Gallery Hop happens the first Saturday of each month, with the next on June 3. For more information visit
