Schmidt’s Sausage Haus Is Closed Until January 14

An iconic German Village restaurant is closing their doors for the next week due to COVID-19.

Schmidt’s Sausage Haus und Restaurant will close until at least Friday, January 14 due to team members and their families contracting COVID-19.

“Key members of the Schmidt’s Sausage Haus Und Restaurant team and their families are unfortunately dealing with Covid. We have made the decision to close in order to give everyone a week-long break to get healthy,” the restaurant announced in a press release.

Schmidt’s restaurant has been a staple in German Village since it opened in 1967. For now, the company’s food trucks and online shop will remain open. A food truck will be posted in front of the restaurant, weather permitting, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.

“We are tentatively planning to re-open the Schmidt’s Restaurant Und Sausage Haus on Friday, Jan. 14,” the restaurant said in the press release. “We thank you for your understanding and patience!”
