One of the most iconic institutions in Columbus could use some community support.
Let’s face it: 2020 has sucked. It’s been hard on just about everyone, and local businesses and organizations are facing unprecedented worries. The Thurber House is no exception.
The literary haven shared a plea for support on social media, encouraging those who have enjoyed their many events and programs throughout the year to make donations.
“While we have leaned on humor and resourcefulness these past eight months, we face a chilling reality: Thurber House can no longer operate without your support. Despite pivoting all of our events and programs to Zoom, attendance and revenue have dropped by over 70%,” the organization shared.
“If you’ve enjoyed our author events, writing workshops, and children’s programs over our 36 years, we humbly ask for your help. If you’re a James Thurber fan who wants to preserve his legacy to inspire future generations, we appeal to you for urgent support.
Please help us save Thurber House—we need you. ❤️”
If you’re in the mood to spread some holiday cheer, please consider making a donation to The Thurber House. They are an amazing resource for our community and they couldn’t be more deserving of the support.
