Ruth’s Chris Steak House In The Short North Is Officially Open

I know where you should spend your next happy hour.

We’ve all gone past the “Coming Soon” signs in the windows of 511 N High Street for months now, but at long last, the moment has arrived. Ruth’s Chris Steak House is officially open in the Short North.

The new location seats 147 in the dining room, 84 in the bar, and 58 in the private dining areas. The restaurant is beautifully designed, featuring mixed materials, geometric patterns, and stunning light fixtures that I’m probably way too excited about.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House got it’s start over 50 years ago when Ruth Fertel mortgaged her house and bought a 60-seat restaurant in New Orleans called Chris’ Steak House. Now with hundreds of locations, the restaurant is known for serving high quality, custom-aged USDA Prime steaks.

Obviously, dinner at Ruth’s Chris sounds fabulous. But I don’t want you to overlook Happy Hour. The restaurant will host a Monday-Saturday happy hour called Sizzle, Swizzle, Swirl, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. At the happy hour, you can take advantage of the $9 menu (get the steak sandwich my friends) or grab a draft beer for $5.

There are also discounts on cocktails, and I’ve got two suggestions. The Gin Basil Smash is light and refreshing, made with Tanqueray, fresh lime, and basil. If you’re looking for something a little stronger, do yourself a favor and order the Gambler’s Old Fashioned. It’s absolute perfection.
