Life can get stressful sometimes. Whether it’s school, your kids, your job, or a multitude of other daily grinds, sometimes you just have to relax.
Of course, that’s all easier said than done. But let’s imagine a world where you can spend tons of money on yourself for just one day. Where would you go? What would you do? If you’re having trouble thinking up your ultimate day of relaxation, let me help. Here are 8 Steps to Self-Pampering in Columbus.
Step 1: Sleep In
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Instead of waking up in time to fit a workout before you brave the mess that is traffic coming into Downtown, turn that alarm clock off and pull the covers back over your head. After you’ve gotten all the beauty sleep your heart desires, you can move on to Step 2.
Step 2: Brunch
It’s always best to start a day of self-indulgence with a little brunch. Whether you’re in the mood for some a.m. cocktails from Biscuit and Branch, or something a little more laid back, like Drunch, Columbus has got your back. We highly recommend the Original Pancake House in Upper Arlington. Or you can channel your inner Lesley Knope and head for some waffles at Taste of Belgium in the North Market. Once you’re so full you are afraid you can’t move, it’s time to move on to Step 3.
Step 3: Rock the Day Spa
Sleep off that brunch buzz while getting a massage. Replenish in German Village should definitely be your go-to center for relaxation. They have a variety of massages, amazing prices, and a wonderful vibe. Now that you’re in your happy place, you can head out for Step 4.
Step 4: Mani/Pedi Time
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of nail art. Depending on your schedule for the day, you can pick any of the artists off this list and you’ll be guaranteed to have some totally Instagrammable claws. Run those bad boys through your hair now, because once you start Step 5, you’ll want to protect your hair at all costs.
Step 5: Get Your Hair Blown Out
The Blowout Bar is just waiting to impress you. Seriously, you’ll be amazed at what a trained professional can do with a round brush and hair dryer. Don’t worry, it’s nothing like that one time your sister got that brush so tangled in your hair that your mom had to cut it out. Your hair will be on point, which is perfect for the high visibility of Step 6.
Step 6: Shop Til You Drop
It’s time to strut your stuff. Whether your idea of dream shopping is at the new IKEA at Polaris or a unique boutique like Vintage Toast, you’re looking fierce and it’s time to show it. Spend a little bit of time and money (remember it’s a dream world) looking for the perfect outfit, accessory, or home decor. You’ll know it when you see it. If you’re feeling great, it’s time for Step 7.
Step 7: Luxury Dinner
You know that one place in the Short North that you’ve been dying to try but you haven’t because of the kids, your schedule, the price, or any other number of excuses? Now is your chance. Step 7 is best enjoyed with an Uber, but if you’re driving yourself, that’s okay too. After you find parking, you can head into whatever restaurant makes you feel like royalty and order all the food you can eat. Tired and maybe even a little tipsy? That’s good. It means you are right on track for Step 8.
Step 8: Relax
Now that you’ve made it home (don’t forget to tip your ride), you can revel in your day of wonder. You lived, you laughed, you loved yourself, and now it’s time to chill. Pick out that show on Netflix you’ve been meaning to watch, grab a bottle of wine from the kitchen and hit the couch.
You’ve totally earned it.
