Out with the sheep and in with the peeps. The City of Columbus is looking to purchase an OSU sheep farm and turn it into a new park.
The property, located at 2400 W Case Rd in north Columbus, was donated to the university in the 1950s and is primarily used for the sheep program. The farm is 58 acres.
Since the acreage is titled to the state of Ohio, the university had to acquire approval from state legislature before putting the parcel up for sale. That legislation was approved earlier this year and the city was given until July 31 to make a deal.

According to a report by Columbus Business First, the mayor’s office confirmed that the city is negotiating with the Ohio State University and plan to enter into an agreement via letter of intent by that July 31 deadline.
The park is right in line with what the surrounding community had hoped for the land.
“What we’re trying to avoid is something that’s going to jam up the infrastructure,” Nick Cipiti, president of the Northwest Civic Association, told the Dispatch in April. “We’d like to avoid those problems, and at the same time provide something that the demographics in the area would like to see.”
If the deal falls through with the city, the property could be sold to purchasers approved by the Ohio State board of trustees.
