Okay, friends, gather round. We’ve got one heck of a house to explore.
This Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home sits on a 1.3-acre lot and that’s honestly the least exciting thing about it. You guys know how much I love a big yard and that I’d never find that unexciting, so you know that I’m serious when I say this house is fantastic. It’s got 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and almost 1,900 square feet of glorious, midcentury modern living.
The home was built in 1965 and it’s been lovingly cared for by the original owner ever since. The rooms are spacious and open, with tons of natural light and interesting built-in units. Each bedroom has a closet with custom built-in storage systems and the home does a great job of melding the inside and outside. This gem, located at 1074 Sedgwick Ct. in north Columbus, is currently listed by Cynthia MacKenzie with Keller Williams Capital Partners for $390,000. I know the suspense is killing you so let’s dive right in.
I blame it on the amount of Brady Bunch I watched as a kid, but there’s something that’s just indisputably homey about the exterior of this place.
Can we just take a second to talk about those windows? Perfection.
The midcentury modern character is immediately visible in the main living space. The built-in sofas, the massive fireplace, and the sunken in space are so typical of that era.
The relationship with nature was so important in midcentury modern designs, and this house does it beautifully with oversized doors and windows.
The kitchen could admittedly use some love, but the potential is there.
The open concept of the home flows from room to room.
I know I’ve talked about the built-ins already, but it’s for good reason.
They’re everywhere and they are in fantastic condition.
The home feels expansive, maximizing every single square foot.
The vaulted ceilings make every room feel massive, which helps that inside/outside balance we talked about earlier.
Speaking of the great outdoors… there’s plenty of space here to stretch your legs.
Whether you’re interested in catching some rays on the oversized patio…
Or taking a quiet walk by the stream on the property. This home is the definition of relaxation.
