The “Cannes” Of Horror Is Coming To Columbus

The very best of indie horror comes to Columbus and no true fright fan is going to want to miss it.

Good news for all you scream freaks and horror fans. Nightmares Film Festival, hosted by the horror aficionado website iHorror, will be making its way to the Gateway Film Center in Columbus this year. You’ll be able to check out all the entries and see who walks away with the award for this year’s best indie horror film.

Nightmares Film Festival (NFF) is a relatively young festival but it never the less tows a pretty big line in the scary movie community. People are already calling it the “Cannes Film Festival” of horror and for good reason, it’s got a pretty large lineup of films with some pretty strong heavy hitters in the scene premiering their most recent works.

Tom Holland (not the kid of recent Spider-man fame) makes his big return to horror with a screening of his new movie, Paper, Rock, Dead.

Holland is most famous for writing and director such classics as Fright Night (the OG but was also a credited writer for the remake), Child’s Play, and several episodes of the classic horror vinette show Tales from the Crypt.

Holland isn’t alone in premiering some much-anticipated scream flicks.

Not only will Adam Green’s Hatchet sequel, Victor Crowley, be screening, but the writer and filmmaker will be making an appearance himself. Leatherface, the latest installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, will also be showing, making it one of only ten theaters in the U.S. to do so.

There will be dozens of shorts and other film entries this year. All the scares go down from Thursday, October 19 to Sunday, October 22. For tickets and information on this year’s red carpet of screams, click here.
