Your Guide To The 20th Annual New Albany Classic

This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of the New Albany Classic. This event is about so much more than horses. In addition to family events, activities, rides, and games, there is also a concert.

The New Albany Classic will see some of the world’s best competitive riders go head to head. The 2016 New Albany Classic Invitational winner and #3 in the world, McLain Ward, and the #1 ranked rider in the world, Kent Farrington, will compete in the ultimate show jumping showdown this weekend in New Albany.

The Classic kicks off on Sunday, September 24 at 10 a.m.

10 a.m.: Gates Open
12 p.m.: Grand Prix Opening Ceremony on the John G. McCoy Show Field
3 p.m.: Concert at The Classic pre-show featuring Dino and Stacy / Sunny 95 Mornings
3:15 p.m.: Anthony Mossburg performance
3:30 p.m.: Concert at The Classic featuring Nick Jonas

Ticket prices cover all events at the event, including the grand prix, the concert, family day activities, and more. Parking is free. Tickets are $30 for adults and $7 for children aged 4-12. Children under 4 are free. You can purchase tickets here.

Musical Performances

The winner of the Columbus Songwriters Association songwriting competition, Anthony Mossburg, will be performing at this year’s Concert at The Classic. After Mossburg, pop star Nick Jonas will be taking the stage. This is the second time Nick Jonas has performed at the event. The first time was 10 years ago, when he performed with his family act, The Jonas Brothers.

One of the best things about the New Albany Classic is that it benefits The Center for Family Safety and Healing, an organization that addresses all aspects of family violence, including child abuse and neglect, teen dating abuse, domestic violence, and elder abuse.

The event has a family focus, offering amusement rides from Murray Brothers, face painting, the Arnold Sports World featuring Kickmaster Foot Golf, food trucks, a petting zoo, animal encounters, inflatables, and more.

The Invitational Grand Prix

The 20th-anniversary edition New Albany Classic will host several decorated equestrians along with other Nations Cup, Pan American Games and Olympic riders. The Grand Prix will be held on the John G. McCoy Show Field, where equestrians will compete for a $125,000 Prize and their name on the Authentic Cup perpetual trophy. Competitors are:

In addition to all of the fun taking place at the event, The New Albany Classic is also auctioning off an autographed guitar from The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. Proceeds will benefit The Center for Family Safety and Healing.
