Horses, Nick Jonas, and Family Fun: The 20th Annual New Albany Classic

The New Albany Classic gave just what it promised: family fun for all.

The 20th Annual New Albany Classic raised $32 million to support family violence initiatives in central Ohio through The Center for Family Safety and Healing (TCFSH). The 15,000 attendees were entertained with an amazing competition on the John G. McCoy Show Field, fun rides, delicious food from numerous food trucks, and of course, a rocking concert.

New Albany Classic winner Kent Farrington and his horse Voyeur

Kent Farrington and his horse Voyeur claimed the first place prize once again. The duo won by 0.05 seconds, with Daniel Bluman and Sancha LS coming in second place. Farrington is the no. 1 ranked rider in the world for a reason, ladies and gentlemen.

“It was good to be back at New Albany, especially after today’s results,” said Kent Farrington. “The crowd is terrific and Voyeur jumped very well, even with the heat. I’m proud to post my third New Albany win and appreciate all that Abigail Wexner does to further the sport.”

“We are so grateful for the support of the show jumping community, our sponsors, volunteers, community partners and fans who come out to spend the day in New Albany to help advance the efforts of The Center,” said Abigail Wexner, founder and host. “When we created The New Albany Classic 20 years ago I don’t think any of us had an inkling that it would develop into the #1 specialty equestrian event in North America, let alone raise $32 million.”

“I am proud of the impact The Center is having on families every day in central Ohio and I’m humbled by the generosity of so many who continue to make this work possible,” said Wexner.

If they hadn’t fainted from the high temperatures and bright sunlight, the young ladies at the festival didn’t stand a chance when Nick Jonas came out on stage for the Concert at the Classic.

Jonas performed many of his new hits and took a moment to throw it back to 10 years ago when he performed at the Classic with the Jonas Brothers. As a fan that was there cheering on the Jonas Brothers back then, this was the highlight of the concert for me.
