Navigator Weekender: The 15 Best Things To Do This Weekend Including Cinco De Mayo, Central Ohio Folk Fest, And Columbus Margarita Fest

There is so much going on this weekend that I don’t even know where to begin.

There are Star Wars Celebrations, Cinco de Mayo parties, and even a folk-festival. It’s one of those times that “something for everyone” literally means something for everyone. So let’s not waste any more time. Here are the best things going on this weekend in Columbus.

Tully – Moms & Margaritas!

What: Celebrate moms and margaritas at the opening of Tully at the Drexel. The film stars Charlize Theron and explores the relationship between a mother of three and a nanny. The bar opens at 6 p.m. with film showings beginning at 7 p.m. and 9:20 p.m.

Women to Watch Ohio – 2018

What: Women to Watch Ohio – 2018 is an exhibit featuring the work of ten Ohio women. The pieces come in a variety of mediums, including working with metal through sculpture, installation, jewelry, and two-dimensional works. On Friday, there will be a workshop and a guided tour.

2018 Ohio Made Spring Market

What: Enjoy a weekend of shopping, cocktails, live music, and more at the 2018 Ohio Made Spring Market. The event kicks off Friday night with the VIP shopping night. On Saturday morning, there is early access shopping from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., with free admission starting at 11 a.m.

LTOB’s “Once Upon a Mattress”

What: Little Theatre Off Broadway in Grove City has just opened their spring run of Once Upon A Mattress. The award-winning musical is a unique take on the fairytale of the Princess and the Pea, with some notable but hilarious differences.

Dorothy and the Prince of Oz

What: Go on a journey with Glinda, Scarecrow, and of course, Dorothy as our favorite ruby-slippered heroine goes on a quest to rescue the Prince of Oz. The show, presented by BalleMet, runs for 1 hour and 46 minutes.

Franklinton Farms Spring Festival

What: Enjoy the warm weather by participating in the opening of the Learning Garden at Franklinton Farms Spring Festival. There will be live music and food from Red Door BBQ, OH Chips, and Milo’s Catering. There’s even a surprise dessert. The event is free and open to the public.

Cousins Maine Lobster & Cinco de Mayo at PiNS

Central Ohio Folk Festival 2018

What: It’s time to get a little folky. The Central Ohio Folk Festival is back again, but this year it has moved locations. The festival will take place at Highbanks Metro Park and will feature live performances, classes, food, and fun for the whole family.

2018 Columbus Margarita Fest!

What: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the 2018 Columbus Margarita Fest. This event is 21+ and features taco trucks, live music, and (duh) margaritas.

Merion Village 2018 Spring Yard Sale

Michael Feinstein & the New Albany Symphony Orchestra

What: Celebrating the 10th season of the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts, the New Albany Symphony Orchestra is putting on a show to remember with multi-platinum, five-time Grammy-nominated recording artist Michael Feinstein.

Spring Flea

What: Spring Flea is the first outdoor flea market by Columbus Flea of the year. Enjoy vendors selling goods ranging from ceramics to vintage clothing, to jewelry. Of course, there will also be food, drinks, and spring jams.

Historic Bryden Road Walking Tour

What: Calling all OTE residents. Take a tour of one of the most historic roads in Old Town East, Bryden Road. The tour will be given by Doreen Uhas Sauer from the Columbus Landmarks Foundation. Meet in front of Upper Cup Coffee Company, rain or shine. The tour will last an hour and a half.
