Navigator Weekender : The 15 Best Things To Do This Weekend Including Free Outdoor Movies, the Columbus Clippers, and The Melanincholy Festival

It may be rainy and a little cold, but that won’t stop Columbus! There is plenty going on around town this weekend, and since Monday is Memorial Day, you even get an extra day off (hopefully). Whether you’re looking for a chill festival, some throwback jams, or the perfect activity for the kiddos, there is something this weekend for everybody. Be sure to double check your plans if the weather is questionable.

Melanincholy Festival 2017

What: The Melanincholy Festival celebrates Columbusites of color and their contributions to art. It is free and open to the public! Although the event runs all weekend, Friday is “Film Day”! Visit the website or Facebook for the full lineup.

Nite Owl presents Willy Wonka

What: Head out and get your weird on with Nite Owl Theatre, presenting Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory at Studio 35!

Bexley Main Event

What: Bexley invites the public to The Main Event. This month, Disney’s Moana will be showing. The Main Event won’t just include the film, but fun family activities and food trucks, Hai Poke and Dos Hermanos.

Asian Festival

What: The Asian Festival is one of the biggest events each year in Columbus. More than 100,000 people head downtown to celebrate food, music, dancing, sports, and cultures of Asia. Admission is free and open to the public.

Local N’ Live

What: CD102.5, Art Makes Columbus, Four String Brewing Company and World of Beer present Local N’ Live, a showcase of local music. Acts include Stephen Spottswood, Booty & The Kidd (, Eric Clemens, and Joey the Songwriter. Admission is free.

Hoot 75: Reading

What: Designed for kids 1-8, HOOT is an event that features lobby activities, kid-friendly shorts from around the world, live music from popular local kids’ band The Shazzbots, and a Dance Cam, which projects onto the big screen for all to see! Admission is free with a canned good donation.

Family Funday at the Commons

What: Bring your family down to the Columbus Commons this weekend for a family event! Activities, bouncy houses, and the carousel are fun for all ages. Admission is free, but some activities require the purchase of a $5 wristband.

Pet Promise 5k
