Gone are the warm sunny days. It’s officially starting to feel like December out, which just means you’ll need to add a warmer coat to your weekend routine! Here are the best things happening in the capital city this weekend!

Festivus 2017

What: 400 W Rich will host their annual Festivus this weekend. The celebration will include local artisans and vendors, food, drinks, and fun. This is a family-friendly event with free admission and free parking!
When: Friday, December 8 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, December 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, December 10 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Disaster Artist Opening Weekend with The Room

What: The Drexel Theatre will be hosting double features of The Disaster Artist and The Room all weekend long. Tickets for both films are $10. The Disaster Artist will play first, followed by The Room. A note from the Drexel states, “Only the Thur-Sat shows of The Room are participatory (throwing of spoons, footballs, etc.)”, so don’t get too crazy kids. SantaCon Columbus 2017

What: It’s time to suit up, Santas! The 2017 SantaCon is a free bar hop where Santas from around the city hang out, drink, and have fun in the Arena District. Sponsored by WNCI 97.9, SantaCon will kick off at The Big Bang Piano Bar at 7 p.m. with raffle prizes throughout the night and Costume Contest at the end.
When: Friday, December 8, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Nutcracker

What: The classic holiday ballet will have its first performance of the season on Friday night. The show, presented by BalletMet runs for 1 hour and 40 minutes. It’s the perfect holiday experience and perfect for an audience of all ages. Ticket prices vary. Click here for more information.

2017 Holiday Trolley Hop

What: Take a complimentary trolley ride through downtown’s Discovery District. This family-friendly event will have fun activities, crafts, tours, shopping, and maybe even a visit from Santa Claus! Free parking is available in Motorists Parking lot across from the Topiary Park! Donated items of gloves, socks, or baby onesies, can be deposited at one of the stops along the trolley route!
When: Saturday, December 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

62nd Annual Buckeye Model Train Show & Sale

Jack Hanna’s Home for the Holidays, featuring Santa Paws

What: Spend the day watching your favorite animals at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium get presents from Santa. The gifts are enrichment items that help the animals learn and maintain crucial skills and entertain themselves! Admission to the all-day event is free with a donation of any one of the enrichment items listed here.

Punches for Pups

What: Ready to punch a bag for a good cause? Punches for Pups is 75 minutes of boxing with raffles and of course, doggos! Attendees are encouraged to donate to the Toy & Treat collection drive, which will benefit a local shelter in need.

12 Bars of Christmas Crawl

What: Break out your ugliest sweaters and your silly adult onesies. It’s time for the annual 12 Bars of Christmas Crawl. Gardens Aglow

What: Gardens Aglow continues this weekend at Franklin Park Conservatory. Go and see the conservatory as never before, decorated with glowing lights and holiday fun! This Sunday at 2 p.m., there will be a special visit from The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and a chance to meet some adorable animals. Polar Express Weekends at COSI

What: The classic holiday film The Polar Express will be showing two different times on Sunday at COSI. Tickets are $10 for nonmembers and $8 for COSI Members.

8th Annual Clintonville Christmas Tree Lighting
