What the world needs now, is macarons, sweet macarons.
Luckily, a brand new spot has opened up in the Short North, serving up everyone’s favorite French treats. Macaron Bar, located at 668 N. High Street, is the seventh location for the dessert shop, joining Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Pittsburgh.
For now, the location is acting as a pop-up.
“We’d secured the lease and debated on how to go ahead,” explained Mike Wagner, co-owner of Macaron Bar Columbus. “We ultimately decided to go ahead and open the pop-up through the holidays and then re-open permanently in March.”
As a pop-up, Macaron Bar will serve two-pack bags as well as six and 12-pack boxes of pre-packaged macarons. Once the shop re-opens in the spring, they’ll be a full production kitchen, with baking classes, coffee and tea services, pairing events, and more.
Wagner explained that in other markets, they’ve enjoyed pairing with local breweries and treat makers, and they hope to do the same thing here in Columbus.
The baking classes are part of what keeps customers coming back to Macaron Bar. In March, the shop will host classes every Sunday where visitors can learn how to make the tiny French treats for themselves, as well as other goodies. There will also be kid-specific classes.
The pop-up will remain open until at least New Year’s Eve. For more info about Macaron Bar, you can visit their website.
