Legacy Smokehouse Will Bring Texas BBQ To Hilliard This Summer

I have to admit, over the last few months I’ve been spoiled. Legacy Smokehouse has been parked, in all their glory, just a few blocks from my home.

It may have been freezing cold out, but if we went past and saw those smokers going, we knew where we were grabbing lunch. When I heard that Legacy would be one of the five vendors in Short North Food Hall, I got pretty excited.

But just like Texas, the state that serves as inspiration for the bbq, Legacy does everything bigger. Why open one location when you could open two? In addition to the Short North Food Hall, Legacy Smokehouse will be opening a restaurant in Hilliard this summer.

Located at 3987 Main St., the restaurant will be housed in a former antique bookstore in the heart of Old Hilliard. Construction on the property will begin this month and the opening is planned for June. The new space in Hilliard will have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Legacy Smokehouse will continue to operate their outdoor set-up at the corner of S High St. and Greenlawn Ave. until March 23. They will close for a couple weeks to facilitate the opening of the Short North Food Hall.

When I stopped in over the weekend, they assured me that the pop-up would be back on the corner after the transition.

Pretty soon the best bbq in Columbus (yeah, I said it) will have three locations to choose from…
