A few months ago, some of my neighbors and I were remarking how hard it was to find good barbeque near our homes.
Luckily for us, there’s a new smoker in town. Legacy Smokehouse is a pop-up serving Central Texas-style barbeque, and it’s completely delicious.
For the next three months, Legacy will be operating out of the parking lot of the old Long John Silver’s at 1102 S High Street.
Every weekend, from now through December, Legacy Smokehouse will be serving up ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, mac and cheese, and more.
When it came time to decide on what to order, I decided to keep it simple. I chose the pulled pork sandwich and a side of mac and cheese to share with my fiance.
He went with a sandwich called a “Two Step”, which came with his choice of two meats, topped with chipotle lime coleslaw and pickled onions. It was a tough call, but he decided on brisket and pulled pork.
If you aren’t feeling the sandwich vibe, you could always order The Haystack. Creamy, delicious mac and cheese, topped with your choice of meat and some Fritos for an extra crunch.
Being a totally awesome bbq joint, Legacy also serves dessert in the form of bread pudding. We were so full that the idea of eating dessert was overwhelming, but I couldn’t not mention it. Just look at how good it looks!
Legacy Smokehouse is open on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. They sell out fast, so if you’re looking for ribs, brisket, or other hot ticket items, I highly recommend you get there early. Trust me, it will be worth it.
