Katzinger’s Little Deli at the North Market has closed.
The closure comes just a couple of months after the deli announced it would be opening a new location in Dublin later this fall. Katzinger’s Delicatessen first opened in 1984. In 2016, the longtime owner sold the business to cityBRANDS, which included the Katzinger’s Little Delicatessen in North Market.
Little Deli offered a select menu of Katzinger’s favorites, including the 10 most popular sandwiches, side dishes, brownies, and their iconic self-serve pickles out of the barrel.
According to Meghan Brouillette, Communications Director at North Market, Katzinger’s closed to focus on their German village and new Dublin locations. Once North Market has chosen a new business to fill the opening left behind by Katzinger’s, the market will announce it to the public.
“Katzinger’s Delicatessen has closed our Little Deli in the North Market effective Friday July 6, 2018. Though we very much enjoyed this ‘little deli’ experiment, we have decided that full blown deli is the way to go,” Katzinger’s Business Manager, Michelle Johnson, said on Facebook. “Our new venture in Dublin will be similar to our German Village Deli of almost 35 years offering our extensive sandwich menu and, of course, our house made and traditional Jewish Specialties of matzo ball soup, smoked fish, blintzes, latkes, knishes and kugel. More information will be available as we approach our opening late fall.”
