How To Celebrate International Women’s Day Around Columbus

This one goes out to all of the badass women out there, making the world go around.

Celebrating women is one of my favorite pastimes, so I’m pretty jazzed about all of the amazing things going on this weekend in honor of International Women’s Day. On March 8th, communities around the world will gather to celebrate women and to start dialogues in the community about equality and empowerment.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, women activists fought hard for equality. The primary focus for the women who came before us was to secure the right to vote and equal pay for equal work. Over a century later, women’s voices and participation in government and the gender pay gap remain key priorities.

All around Columbus, women and our allies will be getting together to life women up. Whether it’s a yoga retreat to center yourself, a new beer launch supporting women, or an informative look back at Ohio’s feminist activists, there are so many ways to celebrate women.

“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” – Gloria Steinham, world-renowned feminist, journalist, and activist
