Do A Happy Dance Because IKEA Columbus Is Opening June 7

IKEA has announced that their new Columbus location will open its doors on Wednesday, June 7 at 9 a.m. Eager customers can begin lining up outside of the store starting on Monday, June 5. The 354,000-square-foot IKEA offers 1,200 parking spaces and resides on 33 acres of land. Visitors should expect a full house when the second IKEA in Ohio opens at 1900 IKEA Way.

“We are thrilled by the excellent construction progress made to date, and believe we can complete the remaining milestones and interior build-up by early-June. Besides furnishing our store, we also are focused on continuing recruitment and training of all the coworkers joining the IKEA family,” noted David Garcia, store manager of the future IKEA Columbus in a press release. “We look forward to introducing Central Ohio customers to a whole new way of shopping for the home.”

IKEA Columbus has been a huge job creator for our city. During the building process, the store generated around 300 construction jobs. Those searching for work can still find positions in “sales, customer service, cashiers, goods, receiving, warehouse and stock replenishment” according to the press release. IKEA Columbus will also bring about over 60 food service opportunities at the restaurant, food market, Café Bistro and coworker cafeteria.

Before you leave home to visit the shiny new IKEA, be sure to check out their website to see exactly what awaits you.

Did you know that the store will be powered using over 3,000 solar panels? The energy created by these panels in a year will be the equivalent of what 150 houses would use in the same amount of time.
