Here are all the costume capers you should know about for Halloween 2017.
October’s crown jewel, its magnum opus, its piece de resistance, is without question all of the Halloween festivities and celebrations. It’s that one time of year where everyone can let loose and be just as weird as they want to be.
So if you’ve got an awesome costume idea you’ve been working on all year long, now’s the time to see if all that plannings paid off. Suit up, strap in, and put on your spookiest face paint, we got to get you to the ball, pumpkin or no pumpkin. Here’s a list of the spookiest and most oddball Halloween events in the Capital City.
What: You’ll be shuffled from this mortal coil and to 8 different bars and venues. Those who sign up will receive up to 40% off on drinks and 25% off of food. Not to mention you’ll be invited to attend the exclusive after party at Dahlia’s.
When: Saturday, October 21 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

What: Looking to up your costume game? Let these experienced cosplayers give you the 411 on cosplay culture and the tricks of the trade when it comes to homemade costuming. Whether you’re interested in the culture or just want help with your Halloween costume, they’ll give you the tips you need to dress the part.
When: September 30, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Bexley Public Library, 2411 E Main St, Bexley, Ohio 43209
What: This free event is open to the entire family. Come listen to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra play a selection of scary Halloween songs while you enjoy free food and special prices on drinks.
When: Monday, October 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: 55 E State St, Columbus, Ohio 43215
What: Come see your favorite 90s rock stars perform their most famous tunes. Okay, well maybe it isn’t really them, but the costumes ought to be convincing enough.
When: Friday, October 27 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: Park Street Tavern, 501 Park St, Columbus, Ohio 43215
What: Come dressed up in your best costume and you may just walk away with cold, hard cash. Just how much cash, you ask? Four runners-up will get $25 each, the third place winner will get $50, second $100, and first will get a grand total of $300 dollars. That’s a whole lot of money for going to a party.
When: Saturday, October 28 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

What: This year’s Highball promises to be as grand if not grander than years before. Hosted by Nina West and Monica Day, there will be tons of live shows, fashion, and art.
When: October 20 and October 22, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.

What: The Diva herself, Nina West, hosts this ruckus night of showtunes and Halloween favorites. That means a whole lot of Hocus Pocus from what I imagine.
When: Sunday, October 29 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
