This Google App Finds Your Classical Art Doppelgänger

You have probably come across the Google Arts & Culture App (iTunes link) by now, since it’s taking the internet by storm.

The app shows you artwork near your present location, which is very cool (although no Columbus Museum of Art at the moment, from what I can tell), but the true virality of the app is coming from a new feature that will match your selfie to a famous work of art.

Google’s computer vision is sort of Black Mirror-ish, and this is probably us providing Google with free training to improve the face matching tech, but I can’t deny that it’s a cool thing.

We decided to run some famous Columbus figures through the app. Urban Meyer’s is uncanny, right?
