Guest Speakers For This Year’s Pelotonia Will Include Former VP Joe Biden

Joe Biden and others will headline this year’s bike ride against cancer.

The guest speakers for Pelotonia 17 have been announced and this year Former Vice President Joe Biden will be headlining the event. Introducing Biden will be his wife Dr. Jill Biden. Together they founded the Biden Cancer Initiative, a program dedicated to furthering progress in cancer detection, prevention, and reducing disparities in cancer outcomes.

Joining the former Vice President will be Ethan Zohn, the 2001 winner of the reality competition show, “Survivor: Africa”. Zohn himself is a former cancer survivor and soccer player, using his platform to co-found “Grassroots Soccer”, which raises money to fight HIV and AIDS.

Pelotonia is a three-day cycling event started in 2008 with the clear objective of generating funds to fight cancer. To this day, the organization has raised more than $140,000,000. Every penny goes directly to The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital, funding leading-edge research in the battle against cancer.

Pelotonia’s opening ceremony kicks off 3 p.m., Friday, August 4 at the McPherson Commons. Registered riders are encouraged to check in, help themselves to a catered dinner buffet, and enjoy the speakers and all the live music. The ride starts later at 12 a.m. and goes on for up to 3 whole days depending on the difficulty of which route each rider chooses.
