You Can Have Guilt-Free Food With Flavor At TRISM

Health food? It’s not as bad as it sounds. And TRISM is here to infuse it with flavor.

TRISM, located at the heart of Ohio State’s campus, offers a dynamic space where you can feed your soul with nourishing food by day and drink cocktails while appreciating entertainment by night.

The bar opens at 3 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. on weekends. The eatery is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There are also outlets pretty much everywhere for you to plug your devices into, which makes it a good spot to get productive.

Most of the menu is either vegan, gluten free, or both. TRISM serves toast, smoothies, smoothie bowls, sandwiches, and will soon add other food bowls to its menu.

For all the millennials out there, TRISM offers three different kinds of avocado toast you can try in lieu of being responsible and saving for a house. Because that’s how money works.

I myself tried the Pesto Avocado toast and the Peanut Butter Power smoothie. The toast, topped with hemp pesto, hemp seeds, and sea salt. Simple yet flavorful, and it doesn’t weigh you down.

I’ve never had hemp seeds before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It turned out A-OK. The avocado spread and the pesto were creamy but not heavy. The smoothie, which consists of banana, peanut butter, cacao, maple, and almond milk, tickled my sweet tooth without overwhelming it.

TRISM also has some baked goods that look both colorful and pretty darn tasty. They incorporate superfoods into them, like cacao and dragonfruit, so you won’t feel like you just consumed 100% syrupy sugar.

Answer: cacao chip superfood donuts with pitaya frosting. Question: not important.

I’ll definitely have to go back to TRISM when they start serving their full menu. There’s a Soul Bowl with maple baked tofu that has my name on it. Bon Appétit.
