Fiona The Baby Hippo Will Flaunt It In A New Book

We have some great news about everyone’s favorite hippo. The new social media star has inspired a book because she’s obviously amazing.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers will publish the book, titled “Saving Fiona:  Science, Social Media, and the Story of a Baby Hippo.”  The director of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Thane Maynard, will write the book.

The book will appeal to kids in elementary school, with an abundance of nice colorful photos. The proceeds will go to the Cincinnati Zoo.

Fiona was born about two months premature in January, at a mere 29 pounds, and she’s totally captured our hearts since then.

“Fiona’s incredible story of survival and hope captured all of us at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and we’re delighted to bring readers behind the scenes at the Cincinnati Zoo where Thane Maynard’s hardworking team dedicated itself to saving the world’s favorite baby hippo,” Catherine Onder, senior vice president of HMH Books for Young Readers, said in a press release.

Fiona truly is a national treasure, and everyone knows it:
