The Best Family-Friendly Breweries In Columbus

Now that our friends have entered into their “dirty thirties”, a lot of them are starting to become parents.

That can certainly make going out a little tricky, but it’s time to ditch the baby food and head out for some fun.

Luckily, there are a lot of places in Columbus that are both family-friendly and perfect for a night out, aka breweries. In generations before ours, families went to chain restaurants or country clubs. But just because millennials are having kids doesn’t mean they want to give up their culture.

Most breweries are somewhat family-friendly if you go before 7 p.m., but the ones on this list go above and beyond to make sure that everyone feels welcome in their establishments. Pro tip: be sure to check the hours of any brewery you’re considering taking your kids to. Sometimes there are special events or certain hours that are 21+ and it’s no fun to load up the whole car only to get to your destination and realize you can’t take the kiddos in.

Hofbräuhaus Columbus

On the second Tuesday of every month, Hofbräuhaus Columbus hosts Family Night. It just happens to coincide with a keg tapping, so there’s something for everyone! The kids can enjoy face painting, balloon animals, stilt walkers, and the best part is, they eat for free (with the purchase of an adult meal).

Combustion Brewery & Taproom

Combustion Brewery has made quite the name for themselves since launching in 2017. Plus, they are the epitome of a baby-friendly brewery. They even have a play area for children with a totally awesome train table just waiting for your kiddos. The food menu may be a little limited for kids, but you can always check the Food Truck schedule (available on Combustion’s website) to find something to eat for the little ones.

Lineage Brewery

If your family are fans of empanadas or samosas, you should take them to Lineage Brewery ASAP. Their twist on these delicious pastries shouldn’t be missed. Lineage also offers a delicious vegan sloppy joe that will make any kid beg for more. If your kids are a little picky, that’s okay. You could always grab a hot dog next door at Old Skool.

Wolf’s Ridge Brewing

Wolf’s Ridge Brewing has some of the best food in the city. But the food isn’t just for adults. A dedicated kid’s menu will make your family outing so much easier. Kid’s meals are available for lunch, dinner, and brunch. They include tried and true favorites like PB+J, Cheeseburger Sliders, and Kid’s sized french toast!

Knotty Pine Brewing Co.

Knotty Pine Brewing Co. is so much more than a brewery. It’s a neighborhood hang out, a great place to grab a bite to eat, and they also serve a mean brunch on the weekends. Parents will be happy to hear that Knotty Pine has a great kid’s menu in addition to their kid-friendly adult meals like pizza, spaghetti, and even smores!

BrewDog’s massive tap room, the DogTap, is 100% family friendly. There are games available to play while you and the kids wait for your food to come out, including board games, arcade games, and even shuffleboard. They don’t have a dedicated kids menu, but between the mac n’ cheese, soft pretzels, and hamburgers, you should be able to find something the kids will want to take a bite of!

Give the babysitter the day off. It’s time to go out!
