The Ohio State Fair May Be Canceled, But The Butter Cow Is Back DIY-Style

The Ohio State Fair won’t be coming back this year, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t all still enjoy a good butter cow.

The American Dairy Association Mideast is challenging Ohioans to create their own, DIY creations in the DIY Butter Cow Challenge. The mini-cow sculptures must be completed by Sunday, August 9th and photos of the buttery creations can be submitted via social media

The winning DIY sculpture will be announced on Monday, August 10th via social media and the prize is a the best summer accessory ever, a YETI cooler.

Want to enter the contest? Here’s what you need to do.

  1. Follow the American Dairy Association Mideast on social media.
  2. Follow instructions to build your own Butter Cow using the how-to video .
  3. Share your finished Butter Cow sculpture on Twitter or Instagram by tagging the American Dairy Association Mideast and using the hashtag #BuildYourButterCow or reply to their Facebook post.
  4. Tag a friend in your post to nominate them to build their own Butter Cow and keep the challenge MOO-ving!

The Butter Cow has been a beloved tradition at the Ohio State Fair for over a century and this year, we can all get a miniaturized glimpse of just how hard it really is to carve a cow out of a dairy product.
