The Columbus Crew has officially announced a date for construction on their new Arena District stadium.
The Crew will host a groundbreaking celebration on the 20,000-seat stadium on October 10th. The event will be open to the general public and will take place at 650 W. Nationwide Blvd, the new home of the Columbus Crew.
In addition to the stadium, the Crew ownership will also be building a mixed-use development around the stadium that will include apartments, senior housing, retail, and office space.
Crew fans are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, which will kick off at 1 p.m. There will be food trucks and live music from DJ AXCESS before the actual groundbreaking, which will begin at 2 p.m. The first 500 supporters in attendance will get their hands on a commemorative groundbreaking mini-shovel, which I honestly didn’t think I needed, but will there be a more hardcore piece of Columbus memorabilia than this? I don’t think so.
This is really happening! Columbus Til I Die, my friends.
