Connie Pillich, the former Democratic Member of the House of Representatives, announced her bid this morning for Ohio Governor
A former attorney and veteran to the United States Air Force, Connie Pillich declared her intentions to run this morning, making her the third democratic candidate to do so. Representative Betty Sutton and Ohio Senate Democratic Leader Joe Schiavoni will also vie for the democratic gubernatorial candidacy.
Originally from the Cincinnati area, Pillich opened her own law firm, Webb & Pillich LLC, shortly after her time as operations support in the U.S. Air Force. In 2008, she won the election for Ohio Representative against Republican Virgil Lovitt, defeating him by 5, 500 votes.
In 2010 Pillich ran against Libertarian Mike Wilson, winning by a much smaller margin, and again in 2012 along with Robert R. Ryan.
Republican candidates who have also announced their bid for governor include Lt. Governor Mary Taylor, Attorney General Mike Dewine, and Secretary of State John Husted.
