It’s A Girl : New Polar Bear Cub Makes A Splash At Columbus Zoo

Talk about unBEARably cute! This morning at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium there was a new little ball of white fluff running around in the Polar Frontier. Born in November, the cub of Anana has finally come out to play. Now, The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is asking YOU to help name this bundle of joy. From now until May 2, you can cast your votes on their website. The winning name will be announced on Mother’s Day, May 14.

to the Columbus Zoo, the four names in the running for the 75-pound polar bear cub are:

  • Amelia Gray: “Ameilia means “defender,” and she will be a conservation protector for her species, inspiring us to help her cousins in their native range. She also has a little gray patch of fur.”
  • Denali: “Highest mountain peak in the North America’s Alaskan Range.”
  • Elisapee: “Native Alaskan name; derivation of Elizabeth”
  • Vieta: “Means “spot,” for her little gray patch of fur”
  • The people of Columbus fell head-over-heals for the zoo’s last baby girl polar bear, Nora. Everyone was genuinely heartbroken when the young bear moved to the Oregon Zoo. I think Columbus will fall just as in love with this new little girl. I mean, how could you not? Just look at that face.

If you can’t get enough of this sweet little bear, never fear. Check out the images below.
