Columbus Metropolitan Library Will Close All 23 Locations On Sundays Until January

Due to a staffing shortage, Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) will close all 23 of its locations on Sundays, effective November 14.

The closures will remain in place through at least Jan. 9, 2022. When the organization is fully staffed, CML employs around 870 full and part-time staff members. There are currently nearly 160 unfilled positions, stretching the current staff too far.

Over the next few months, CML leaders and the Board of Trustees will reassess staffing levels to determine whether or not the Sunday closure will extend beyond January 9. While the branches will be closed on Sundays, library cardholders will still be able to access digital library resources 24/7, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, movies, music, research, and learning tools.
