So Sweet: Columbus Donut Week Is Coming This June

What the world needs now, is love… and donuts.

That’s not because of anything in particular, it’s just that donuts are always great and we could use more delicious and joy-inducing things. From June 1-7, a city-wide celebration of everyone’s favorite breakfast treat will take place during Columbus Donut Week.

The week-long event, which will include National Donut Day, will support Service! Relief Kitchen in their efforts to aid service industry workers during the pandemic. The celebration was developed by the founders of Columbus Donut Fest and will include special deals from participating businesses, virtual and at-home events, contests, and the launch of the first official Columbus Donut Trail.

In the light of Covid-19, many of the planned events heading to virtual settings and self-lead activities that can be participated in while still practicing safe social distancing and safety protocols.

“Our events are about bringing joy and connection to the Columbus community and I think we can all agree we could all use as much joy as possible right now,” says Leanne Moore, Director of Columbus Donut Fest. “Our hope is that this week helps people feel more connected to each other and the local businesses that have continued to work together to create a small sense of normalcy for use over the past 2 months.”

In addition to all of the delicious, doughy goodness, there will also be a limited edition set of merchandise released as part of Columbus Donut Week. Proceeds from purchases will be donated to Service! Relief Kitchen and to support the small business owners who run the donut shops of Columbus.

“We want to encourage people to go out and support these businesses, because they are important to the fabric of our city and we want to make sure they survive,” said Moore.

All Donut week events, specials, and contests can be found on the Official Columbus Donut Week website.
