Chumley’s Will Announce Their Grand Reopening Soon And We Can’t Wait

Chumley’s closed on June 25, 2016, in order to make way for a new apartment complex. But fans of their giant schooners can rejoice, the popular campus will announce their grand reopening at 1516 North High St. any day now.

The sports bar will now call The Highline at Nine, a property owned by Edwards Communities, its home.

I only made it into the old Chumley’s once or twice while visiting friends at The Ohio State University before it met its demise. The atmosphere was very sporty and it seemed like a great place to watch a game. One of the main attractions of Chumley’s is their giant goblets full of whatever type of alcohol you’d ask for. If I’m not mistaken, on your 21st birthday you could get one of these 32-ounce-schooners for free.

OSU students have sincerely missed Chumley’s and are thrilled to see that the place is going to reopen.

The bar was previously located at 1918 North High St, which was part of the block between 16th Avenue and 17th Avenue on High Street. The eight buildings that sat on this block of North High Street were town down to make way for Campus Partners’ plan to redevelop the nine-acre stretch of the campus area.

This plan hopes to create a more rational street grid and add a lot of mixed-use buildings with apartments up top and retail spaces on the bottom levels. The general wish is to make the stretch of the street more pedestrian-friendly.

Chumley’s is expected to open this August! Check back in so you can learn the grand opening date.
