7 Places To Go For The Capital City Half Marathon To Support, or Taunt, The Athletic

Because sometimes the best kind of support is the kind that hurts.

This Saturday, April 29, the healthy and the motivated will once again descend on Columbus for the Capital City Half Marathon. Their muscle and sinew will contract and stretch as they push themselves 13.1 miles through our beloved downtown area. The satisfaction of hard work and the salty sting of sweat, their only real motivation to cross the finish line.

As hospitable Columbusites, it’s our duty to encourage and support our athletic counterparts, and what better way to do so than by absolutely gorging ourselves with food and booze in their immediate vicinity. Watch their eyes widen in horror as you shove a fist full of mozzarella sticks into your gaping face hole on the R Bar’s patio. Or stare deadpan through the front windows of North High Brewing as you sloppily chug down a milk stout. The beer spilling down the corners of your mouth as their tears fall freely from faces contorted in agony, arms stretched toward you in envy. Yes, you too can enjoy a runner’s high by stealing someone else’s. Here are seven dope spots to get all the action while also torturing all those innocent marathon runners.
