Bernie Sanders To Appear In Southern Ohio This Morning

Bernie Sanders will be holding a rally in Portsmouth this morning, ostensibly on jobs, health care, and the economy, but it’s not as if there will be a lack of things for Bernie to talk about given recent events.

Local media is portraying this as Bernie traveling deep into Trump country, but this isn’t territory that has been off limits to Democrats historically. Trump trounced Hillary Clinton in 2016, but Barack Obama ran neck and neck with Mitt Romney here in 2012, and it’s likely Democrats will need to get back to that footing to have hope in Ohio in 2020.

Midwestern events like this one certainly add confidence to analysis like this that suggest Bernie is gearing up for another presidential run in 2020.

There will also be local speakers at this event. Doors open at the Portsmouth Vern Riffe Center for the Arts at 9:30 AM, and the rally begins at 10:30 AM. The event is free, but they recommend RSVP’ing, which you can do here.

The event should be live streaming on Facebook also, which you can view here:
