AMC Lennox Is Now Permanently Closed

For years, my friends and I would gather at AMC Lennox Town Center 24 for midnight movie premieres.

The movie theater opened back in 1996 but my personal first visit was in 1999 when my dad took me to see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. I remember feeling like it had to be the largest movie theater in the world and as we waiting in a line that wrapped all the way around the building, I knew that we were in for a special experience.

Over the years, I frequently got my nerd fix at AMC Lennox, seeing the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter films and yes, dressing up in costume. It will always be a nostalgic place and I was a little surprised at how sad I was to find out that it has closed.

Reddit Columbus sounded the alarm about the permanent closure on Monday morning after emails were sent out to Columbus customers informing them of the closing. Since then, AMC Theatres’ website has confirmed.

Movie theaters across the country have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, with theaters looking for creative ways to make money while keeping customers safe. AMC still operates a handful of theaters in the area, including Easton, Dublin, and Grove City.

Although there are rumors that a new theater will be moving into the old digs at Lennox, that has yet to be confirmed.
