Amazon To Hire Over 1,400 In Ohio During August 2 “Jobs Day” Event

As part of a national hiring day, Amazon will seek to fill 50,000 positions nationwide on Wednesday, August 2, including over 1,000 here in Ohio.

In a press release, Amazon states that job seekers can apply for a position, speak to company representatives and even receive an on-the-spot job offer during the event.

According to Columbus Business First, 1096 of the jobs will be at the Etna warehouse, while an additional 396 jobs will be available for the Obetz location.

“We’re excited to be creating great jobs that offer highly-competitive wages, benefits starting on day one and the chance for employees to go back to school through our Career Choice program,” said John Olsen, Vice President of Amazon’s Worldwide Operations Human Resources in a press release.

The Job Fair will take place at Amazon’s Etna, OH location, but it will be accepting applications for positions at the Obetz location as well.

Full-time positions come with loads of benefits including highly-competitive pay, health insurance, disability insurance, retirement savings plans and company stock. They also offer up to 20 weeks of paid leave, and programs like Leave Share and Ramp Back, which allow new parents much-needed flexibility to grow their families.

“On August 2, we are excited to host interested candidates to come learn more about the technology we utilize in our operations, see our dedicated onsite classrooms, meet employees and, if interested, apply for a job at our site and receive an on-the-spot job offer,” said Olsen.

Part-time positions offer flexibility. For employees who work more than 20 hours per week, some benefits are offered. Life and disability insurance, dental and vision insurance with premiums paid in full by Amazon, and funding towards medical insurance are all availble to those who who meet hourly requirements.

According to the press release, all full and part-time employees are eligible for Amazon’s Career Choice program “that pre-pays 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a future career at Amazon.”

The Jobs Day event will take place from 8 a.m. until Noon. Tours of the facility are available, but Amazon requests that individuals who wish to take a tour follow the dress code. You must be 18+ to participate in the tour. Dress code requirements are:
