Hot Chicken Takeover will be partnering with Amethyst to support National Recovery Awareness Month.

National Recovery Awareness Month, which runs from September 1-30, promotes the benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for mental health patients and substance use disorders. It also promotes the message that recovery is possible.

Amethyst, the company paring up with Hot Chicken Takeover, is a women’s recovery program of the Alvis House. Hot Chicken Takeover will be selling a special edition shirt for the month of September and will donate $5 from every sale to Amethyst.

“We have had a partnership with Amethyst that has been tremendously impactful to our company,” said Hot Chicken Takeover Founder Joe DeLoss in a press release. “Several women on our staff have utilized their services and it’s been an important stepping stone in their success.”

“We see first-hand the importance of the work they’re doing, so giving back to them aligns with our mission in a very personal way,” said DeLoss.

The pairing has the unique opportunity to start conversations about recovery awareness that are vital to successful a recovery process, as well as funds to support programs.

“Elevating conversations around recovery awareness is a big step. We are hopeful that this program will not only do that, but also generate dollars that we can funnel towards resources to help women in their recovery journey,” said Amethyst Director of Development, Paige
Sifford Bilotta.

A portion of the donation money will be used to purchase kitchen items for women who are moving into transitional housing.

“Little things—like cookware and bakeware—make a big difference. It enables our women to have independence and a feeling of pride. We are absolutely thrilled that Hot Chicken Takeovers’ donation from shirt sales will bring everyday ease to cooking at home for our women and their families,” remarks Bilotta.

Hot Chicken Takeover will have special turquoise shirts available to celebrate National Recovery Awareness month. The shirts will be available in sizes XS through 3XL. They are $29 each and will be available at both the North Market location, as well as the Clintonville location. When you purchase the shirt, you are eligible for a free meal at HCT, and $1 off each additional time you wear the shirt while purchasing food from the restaurant.
